“But the real secret to lifelong good health is actually the opposite: Let your body take care of you.” ~ Deepak Chopra
Imagine if you had to tell your heart to beat or remember to breathe, give instructions to your stomach to digest and your colon to take out the garbage? These are just the end activities of a trillion cells communicating, cooperating, recycling and renewing every second of every day of every year of your life. This communication is programmed for optimal health and function of your organs, bones, joints, skin, glands and hormones. It is not your choice or direction that keeps these systems is harmony. This innate intelligence is hardwired into the physical body. We are privy to this communication and intelligence if we let it inform us if systems are in stress or out of harmony.
In nature animals follow these signals through instinct – they sense bad food, impure water, danger and other influencers of their survival. There is no intermediary ‘mind’ to interpret or ignore these signals the way man is wired. We know from the advent of disease that we ignore them at our peril. When we tune in to our body’s needs and whispers, we will inevitably shift in our way of behaving toward this most intelligent experiencer – our own body and understand who really has our best interests at heart. Who is your best friend? I hope you said ‘my body’!
Me agapi (with love),
Marilyn
