“Recreation’s purpose is not to kill time, but to make life, not to keep a person occupied, but to keep them refreshed; not to offer an escape from life, but to provide a discovery of life.” ~ Unattributed

Many of us work at jobs we resent, regret or out and out hate, ticking off minute by boring minute, hour by demanding hour or day by stressful day. We can’t wait for the weekend to get out of the harness of commitment to ‘the man’. Ironically the weekend, rather being spent in refreshing and re-energising ‘re-creation’, is too often spent doing things to zone out. TV, drinking, shopping, social media, ‘recreational’ drugs rob of us of the vitality we so desperately require as sentient beings. The vitality only available to us in revitalising (imbuing with new life) activities and pursuits.

Or we step from one harness into another and feel that we must fill every moment with activity and overfill our schedules with commitments and obligations to our children, family or friends that creates a level of demand and stress equal to or greater than our jobs. Stop! Let your heart take you for a walk and allow your eyes to drink in colour, fresh air to oxygenate your every cell. Can you just let your mind drift on the clouds and discover your own brilliance? Revitalize your life and let the world know how amazing you are!
