“We are driven by five genetic needs: survival, love and belonging, power,
freedom, and fun.” ~ William Glasser
For too many, the idea of having fun is frivolous or something withheld, that comes as a reward after work. But in reality fun is the juice that makes the other needs worth striving for. After our survival basics are met, life becomes an extravaganza of opportunities to love and be loved, to have influence and to set ourselves free to be exactly who we are.
But the sustaining joy of life – joie de vivre – is to realise our fullest potential with a lightness of heart and the spirit of playfulness that gives us wings over the inevitable challenges that draw on our love, develop our strengths and ultimately set our souls free.
